Hello, I'm Jo, a Hampshire based artist and illustrator from Overton, the next village from Steventon,  Jane Austen's birthplace.   I illustrated the Jane Austen's Steventon to Overton Walking and Cycling trails in 2024,  which sparked my interest in the long-gone Steventon Rectory - now just a field and water pump.

Hopefully you have heard Rectory Archaeology Project Director Deborah Charlton's amazing presentation about Jane's life in and around Steventon, and the archaeological dig to 'unearth' Steventon Rectory.  Her book prompted my fascinating artistic endeavour to paint Steventon Rectory in Jane's time, resulting in the new and current painting of  'Steventon Rectory - the birthplace of Jane Austen'. 

Allowing for some artistic license, this is the first  known representation, to date, of the Rectory in Jane Austen's time, based on evidence and approved by Deborah Charlton.   Read more about my project here.
