See the chatty ducks on the River Test. Bridge Street Bridge is locally known as 'The Duck Bridge' due to the constant 'lunchtime' for the ducks there. Duck feeding is a regular past time in Overton, especially as the bridge is en-route to the primary school! The Ducks on the River Test at Bridge Street are such an iconic feature of Overton, and indeed many villages in the UK. Smaller than my other prints, the paper measures 26cm x 18cm with image size approx 20.5cm x 13cm. Will fit A4 frame
A few days before any Overton Village festival (scarecrow festival, sheep fair etc) the bunting in Bridge Street just ‘appears’! Never seen, but very active and very much appreciated is ‘The Bunting Fairy’! No celebration would be compete without these decorations which were made a few decades ago from old clothing, and just sum up with vibrant carnival atmosphere in this wonderful rural Hampshire village
Bridge Street in Overton runs between the High Street and Church Road. Where it crosses the beautiful River Test is a favourite spot for families to stop and feed the ducks (which regularly block the traffic) and the trout that swim in the crystal clear chalk bed river below. Watching the 'bun fight' between the trout and ducks is always fun!
A Site of Special Scientific Interest the River Test is one of the most species-rich lowland rivers in England, and 'Flashetts' was formally a watercress bed. We love this part of the River Test in Overton. It is beautifully clear due to its chalk bed, and perfectly shallow for a paddle, a swing on the rope, drive motor boats, and is the location of the annual duck race.
This amazing view of the poppies, looking back down to Overton village from the top of North field, in Hampshire. What is tragic though, is that this very field is at risk of being developed on for new housing. I hope we can all see this view for many years to come.
A typical English Village scene, and I am so lucky to live Here. The beautiful church overlooking the Overton recreation ground .and a game of cricket. The ground is the location for events and festivals and is the focus for so many fun times. The church bells can be heard all across the village and it can be seen from all directions as you enter the village - a real welcome home.
The famous amazing Glasshouses at the Bombay Sapphire Distillery, in the beautiful Hampshire village of Laverstoke. I love the mix of the old original Laverstoke Mill buildings with the modern glasshouses and their amazing botanicals; spices in the humid glasshouse and Mediterranean plants in the other. And of course the river Test flowing through the grounds - the lifeblood of the historic mill. Perfect for the 'Gin Lover' in your life, or a memento of the distillery, if you have visited.
Beautiful spot on the River Test - huge trout, weeping willows and the historic Grade II listed water powered Fulling Mill. The mill was used for fulling or beating cloth as part of the process of textile manufacture. You can follow the Whitchurch Mill Trail to see this and the other mills. http://www.hants.gov.uk/rh/walking/mill-trail.pdf
The oldest silk mill in the UK still in its original building in rural Hampshire. A Georgian water mill, it still weaves silk using 19th century machinery. And the cafe is great - you can sit with your cream tea and watch the ducks and trout in the crystal clear river Test.
The locally familiar location of Church Street, almost unchanged for the last century. With All Hallows Church in the background.
Winchester Cathedral and grounds - A perfect place to sit and spend a lazy Sunday. Steeped in History - it is Europe’s longest medieval Cathedral and is the resting place of many - from King Alfred the Great to Jane Austen. My son's favourite fact involves the deep-sea diver, William Walker, who worked under water to stabilise the foundations in total darkness for six years and single-handedly prevented it collapsing. Go and see it - when you can bear to get off that bench!
A National Trust property, the mill is the oldest working watermill in the country, dated from Saxon times and based on the river Itchen. The City Mill was rebuilt in 1744 and was restored to full working order in 2004. The baking and milling demonstrations are fascinating, with lots of hands-on things for the kids and it even has its very own 'Otter Cam'!
Note! This is an OPEN edition print. This painting won 3rd prize in The 'Postcards from The Trafalgar Way Art & Photography Competition' in 2021 The Trafalgar Way, runs from Falmouth to the Admiralty in central London and was created to commemorate the journey that Lieutenant Lapenotiere made to deliver the official Dispatch (report) from the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. This painting depicts the 16th change of horses in The Red Lion yard, Overton

Beach Huts and Breakfast Great cafe overlooking the sea - have a full English Breakfast then head to Mundesley beach for a swim (if you are brave enough - too nippy for me!), fly a kite or just have fun in the sand...Then back for a cuppa or ice cream before home.
First Class Post Iconic scene of Mundesley, the Post Office with Village sign in the distance.
All Saints' Church This church is in an amazing location overlooking the sea -it is so atmospheric and peaceful. It was completely rebuilt between 1899 and 1914 after standing in ruins for a hundred years.
A popular pub for a pint right on the seafront. You can watch the boats sail by while the kiddies play in the playground. I just love a pub by the sea - endless changing views with a decent beer - what more could you want!?
