Testimonials

"I’d highly recommend Jo South if you are looking for a unique gift or beautiful individual artwork for your home. Surpassed all my expectations, thank you Jo” Laura, UK

"Her work is a lovely mixture of reality and seeing life through rose-tinted glasses; how things could look on a happy day with the best weather possible!" Jocelyn, UK

"Jo being located in the UK and never having painted, nor seen a gum tree was never a problem. A few photos and clarification emails were all that was needed. We are all thrilled with the result and the painting hangs in pride of place in our living room."  Shelley, Australia

'Watership Down Trail' Illustration

I was invited to Whitchurch Town Hall for the official launch of the new Watership Down long-distance walking trail, by the Whitchurch Conservation Group and Walkers are Welcome - Whitchurch, Hampshire group.

I was commissioned by the group to paint the official illustration for the trail and leaflet.   There is a great write up here in the Basingstoke Gazette

Illustrated to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the publication (Nov 2022) of the wonderful book by Richard Adams (ex-Whitchurch resident) and the 50th anniversary of the creation of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; the setting for the story.

Created in collaboration with Whitchurch Conservation Group and approved by Richard Adam's family, this official trail illustration explores the wider landscape, taking the walker to various landmarks included in the book.  Watership Down is just on the way to Kingsclere, Efrafa is actually at a crossing of the footpaths on the Harrow way (see photo) and the rabbits cross the river Test near Laverstoke Park - all right here on our doorstep!
